Phillip Phillips, 23, is no stranger to the rigors of the music industry, however following the release of their new album, still finding it difficult to keep your head on straight.
Phillip Phillips: struggling to keep things together for ' Darker ' Album
Phillip has been through this before. The winner of the eleventh season of American Idol in 2012 is no stranger to fame. His coronation song "Home" , released after his victory , became the best selling of all coronation songs for the show.
In addition, Phillip has already released an album - the world of The Side of the Moon back in 2012 - so let's say you know what it takes to truly be an American Idol.
However, the singer was born in Albany, GA still finds it hard to deal with some of the setbacks that come with fame and some of the material from his new album.
Phillips says its "weird" not being able to go home and spend as much time with your friends and family, as he has been working.
" So you see the people who love you and that you care - [ that ] kind of age them a little more each time you go ," Phillips said in a statement.
Phillips revealed that he does not even recognize himself in the mirror sometimes. "Every time I come back I kind of look in the mirror and go, ‘wow where that come from did?’ "

Phillips is also battling some of the emotions that come with writing some of the more serious material on his new album.
"Everybody goes through different things in life. Everyone has secrets, you know," Phillips said. " Some of the songs - I like to put myself in positions of others as well - and how it would affect me , and that's how I do a lot of songs also sometimes can make it dark , you never know . " .
